Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you of your placement onto the Company Collective!
Please know lots and LOTS of thought from all judges and teachers went into our decisions for company team placements. We have the best interest in mind for EVERY one of our dancers. We want them to grow, be challenged, and develop lasting friendships within their group, and with all company dancers. We are confident we have placed each dancer on a team-best fit for them to have a positive experience. We have a great year planned and are so glad you will be joining us on this amazing journey!
Now that you’re here, the 24-hour blackout period has begun. You can post your exciting news for all to see tomorrow at this time! Tag @studio56dance and use hashtags #riseandthrive #watchmethrive #whereeveryoneshines #wedancewithstudio56dance because we want to celebrate with you!

As a member of the Company Collective, we expect greatness from you! The Collective is an intermediate/advanced program for dancers to better develop their skills and expand their opportunities as artists and performers.
Dancers chosen to become part of the Company Collective receive a leveled placement for ballet and jazz technique classes ranging from levels 1-6. This placement is based on ability level, while also considering work ethic and commitment. Technique-level placement happens once a year. Occasionally, adjustments could be made based on teacher recommendations at January mid-year conferences. Levels offer students a clear understanding of their strengths and what they need to do in order to progress to the next level. Leveled technique classes allow us to truly customize individual training plans for dancers. Each Collective member will follow a custom schedule to allow them to grow and develop their individual strengths.
Your personalized schedule will be viewable in the Parent Portal in the next few days as we get every dancer registered for their personalized schedule. When it's complete, you'll get a separate email titled "Class Confirmation" and your schedule will be attached.
Team building activities for the Collective are broken up into groups based on age, not level placement or routine casting:
-
Junior Collective: upper elementary ages
-
Teen Collective: Grades 7-9
-
Senior Collective: Grades 10-12
The vision of the collective stands true to our belief that all dancers need to be given opportunities to experience different roles in a classroom. There are three stages of a dancer’s progress in any class. There is a “building” stage, a “developing” stage, and a “mastery” stage. We think it is very important for dancers to experience being in each stage during their dance journey. There is a benefit to being at the lower end of the ability level in a class (building stage) because they are pushing themselves to keep up with stronger dancers and a desire to attain mastery of the skills they are learning. There is also an important factor to being in classes where a dancer is on the stronger end of the spectrum (mastery stage) because it is giving them a chance to solidify technique and to know what “mastery” feels like. Other benefits of reaching a mastery role within a classroom include building confidence, being able to shine, developing leadership skills, and more. When a dancer is able to experience “mastery,” they are more likely to be hungry and driven to achieve more when they are in the “building” stage of another class. Dancers will be given the opportunity to regularly experience all stages of the progression spectrum as collective members.
Routine casting is separate from level placement. We are excited to announce routine casting by July 15th this year. Collective Dancers will not necessarily be with the same dancers in each of their routines. The jazz routine you are in could be a different mix of dancers than your hip hop or lyrical. All collective dancers will be chosen for two core routines. Based on your interest on the audition application and what we feel would benefit you best in your dance journey, dancers could be chosen for additional group routines. Again, this does not guarantee placement in any routine or style. All routine placements are final.

Your character and conduct are more important than the “name” of your Company Team or the technique level you're at. If you earned your “dream spot,” be humble and sensitive to others who are still working on their goals. If you didn’t make the progress you had hoped for, it’s time to dig in, work hard and accept your position with determination and grit. We are happy to help you with creating a plan for improvement! Change is hard, it is never our intention to disappoint anyone, but it is inevitable with change. We understand the friendships created among dancers over a year are very strong, but we are certain new friends and experiences can be positive and allows for growth!
As noted in the audition form, audition results are final. If we need to make adjustments to groupings we will do so based on what we SEE developmentally throughout the year. Keep working. We are preparing dancers for real-world experiences. Thank you for putting your trust in us as professionals that sincerely have every dancer’s best interest in mind.
It is not appropriate to call or text the Director or teachers with questions regarding your placement.
Again, congratulations on all your hard work! We can’t wait to see you at Summer Intensive!

FULL COMPANY CLASS SCHEDULE BEGINS: AUGUST 29th

Check your parent portal class schedule (or your class confirmation email) to see how many routines you will be cast in and choose a payment option: *This is subject to a slight adjustment if entrance fees are increased by competitions once rates are released for next season. Any changes will be announced at the parent meeting in August.
Cast List Notes:
If a routine has a C next to the number, you’ll complete it at 2 conventions. Casting will be announced by July 15th and is subject to the effort put forth at July Intensive and commitment to conventions.
If you are listed as an alternate for a routine, you will attend all choreography/rehearsals and be ready to jump into any dancer’s place in the routine at any time. You only need to be present to perform when notified.

Tuition and Company Payment Breakdown:

July and August tuition goes towards July Technique Intensive, choreography fees, and August Boot Camp.
Company Fee Deposit is processed on July 1 for $250 (This is for dancers in 3 or more routines to cover early company expenses that are due before the monthly team fee payments have covered them.)
