Staff Bios


Tifni Mathewson, Director of Troupe, Jazz/Ballet/Tumbling Instructor

Tifni Mathewson began dancing when she was eight years old. She has been with Studios 56 since it opened. Tifni has also trained with New York City Dance Alliance and Tremaine Dance. She has preformed in Ballet West's "The Nutcracker" and preformed multiple times for the Utah Jazz. Tifni has competed in many Solo competitions, and has multiple Queen Awards, including National Champion at the America On Stage Competition. Tifni is currently a attending Salt Lake Community Collage's Cosmetology Program along with sharing her talents with the students at Studio 56.

 

 

 


Elizabeth Spiker, Ballet Instructor

A native Californian, Elizabeth trained with the Inland Pacific Ballet Academy where she later became a company member of IPB. While dancing with IPB Elizabeth had the pleasure of dancing lead roles in The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Graduation Ball, Swan Lake, Rodeo, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Les Sylphides, and Stars and Stripes. She later went on to dance in musicals like, Phantom and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Elizabeth started teaching four years ago in California and now enjoys teaching ballet to all ages in her new home of Utah.

 

 

 

Amy Priet, Jazz/Ballet Instructor

Amy began dancing at the age of 6. She has been with Studio 56 Dance Center since 2002 teaching jazz, and ballet. Her love for dancing has included many prestige awards such as, winning multiple queen awards in solo competition, including advanced national dance champion in Las Vegas, Nevada. Amy was part of her high school dance company her sophomore yearand was a cheerleader her junior and senior year. She has had the opportunity to attended many dance conventions including N.Y.C dance alliance, and the Tremaine dance convention. She was much honored to have been part in the amazing production of Ballet West's Nutcracker and has performed several times as a Junior Jazz Dancer, for the Utah Jazz. Amy has helped choreograph and teach multiple competition routines for high schools and dance companies throughout Utah. She loves being apart of the artistic development of children, by sharing her love for dance.

 

 

 

Kellie Clark, Jazz/Hip Hop/Tumbling

Kellie Clark began gymnastics at the age of 3 and began competing at the age of 6. She trained at Missy Marlow's until the age of 13 from there she started dancing at The Winner School. She was part of their competition team for 4yrs, where her team won several awards. She was also part of the Cottonwood High School Dance Company for 3 yrs. As a sophomore in high school she competed with the Varsity Songleaders and continued as a Varsity Songleader throughout high school. After graduating high school she went on to become a Songleader at the Salt Lake Community College where her team took 1st place in the Las Vegas Nationals. She has had the opportunity to attend several conventions and take class with some of the nation's best choreographers. She loves to dance and wants to continue to teach and share that love with her students!

 

 

Kory and Morgan Uyetake, Owners of Utah Xtreme Cheer, Studio 56 Tumbling Instructors

Kory and Morgan are on their second year as proud owners of Utah Xtreme Cheer. Several of Studio 56 tumbling classes will be held at UXC this season. Kory's resume consist of 3yrs as a University of Utah Cheerleader, coach for Churchill Junior High, staff member for COA, U of U Assistant cheer coach from 2006-2008 and head coach from 2008-2009. Morgan resume presents 2yrs as a University of Utah Cheerleader, 5yrs as a Junior High Cheer Coach, 2yrs as the assistant coach at Juan Diego and also a staff member with COA. UXC's goal is to help our dancers develop and improve their skills in tumbling. They believe this pursuit will instill skills and confidence that they will carry with them the rest of their lives.

 

 

 

Chenelle Shumway

Chenelle M. Young has been dancing for over 15 years and teaching for 3.  She danced competitively starting at a young age and continued with Cheerleading and Drill Team throughout Junior High and High School where she had the honor of holding leadership positions every year as a choreographer or captain.  After High School, Chenelle began teaching dance at Westminster College.  She remains the only dance teacher at the school, and is currently teaching Jazz Technique, Hip Hop and Zumba.  Chenelle is a Certified Group Fitness instructor and teaches several group fitness classes including but not limited to; Zumba, Pilates, Cycling, Hip Hop and Jazz technique.  She teaches at several Gold’s Gym’s across the valley and at many other fitness and dance centers.  Chenelle was a dancer for the Harley Davidson Utah Blaze Dance team for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.  She had many great opportunities to dance on television and on stage as a Utah Blaze dancer and was a choreographer for the team.  Chenelle also led the team as Dance Captain.  Chenelle is currently a member of the 2010-11 NuSkin Utah Jazz dancers and looks forward to taking her dancing to the next level this season.  Over the summer, Chenelle was lucky enough to teach alongside many well renowned choreographers at this years’ So You Think You Can Dance “National Danzz Day 2010” Dance Convention in Salt Lake City, UT.  Chenelle is currently a student at the University of Utah working on a double major in Astronomy and Dance with an emphasis in teaching.  She is constantly working on improving her skills and seeking new opportunities to become a better dancer and teacher.  She looks forward to sharing this year with all of the students at Studio 56. and hopes to push them to their fullest potential and help them to realize their dreams. 

 

Erin Harding Academic Preschool Teacher

Erin Harding is from Holladay, UT and is the mother of 3 children ages 6, 8 and 10. When she’s not spending time with her family, she enjoys running, gardening and cycling. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Early Child Development. Erin’s professional experience ranges from caring for the severely handicapped, to providing daycare inside and outside of her home. She loves music, reading and having fun.
